01. Hardware Components and Requirements

A Favendo & Actility intallation is made of:

  • Favendo asset tracking backend services: A set of servers that host the whole Favendo software stack.
  • ThingPark X location engine: Actility’s backend that computes and exposes the location information.
  • Abeeway Device Manager: Tool to manage the Abeeway trackers.
  • LoRaWAN® infrastructure, either private or public: This is needed to send the data from the Abeeway trackers to Actility’s backend. For private network, a LoRaWAN gateway is needed.
  • Abeeway Trackers: Mobile receivers that are mounted on the object or person to track.
  • Anchor beacons (only required for indoor tracking): Fixed devices that send BLE signals received by the Abeeway trackers.

01. Favendo asset tracking backend services

Favendo requires, at a minimum, 3 VMs with the following configurations:

NumberPurposeRequirementDescription
1 xMain server
  • Quad Core (3.2 GHz)
  • 64GB RAM
  • 500 GB SSD
  • Ubuntu 20.04
  • main spring-boot application (zircon API)
  • 5 spring-boot microservices to manage side functionalities (ex: event management, adapters, …)
  • AMQP Broker (RabbitMQ)
  • Redis cache server
  • 3 postgres dbs
  • 2 Elasticsearch nodes
  • 1 nginx load-balancer
  • Web applications.
  • 1 xAsset tracking
  • Quad Core (3.2 GHz)
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 100GB SSD
  • Ubuntu 20.04
  • 1 xMonitoring
  • Quad Core (3.2 GHz)
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 100GB SSD
  • Ubuntu 20.04
  • Graylog instance
  • Elasticsearch instance (used by graylog)
  • mongo db instance (used by graylog)
  • spring-boot-admin microservce.
  • 02.  ThingPark X location engine

This is a multi-technology solver that computes and exposes the best location information possible by combining the various information transmitted by the tracker.

The location engine also exposes a set of APIs to interact with the trackers – for example to request a position, change configuration, etc.

    03.  Abeeway Device Manager

This is ThingPark X location Engine’s companion application to efficiently manage your fleet of trackers. With it you can:

    • Manage your trackers configuration
    • Visualize your trackers on a map
    • Assess your trackers’ behavior and performance, visualizing their key metrics at a glance.

    04. LoRaWAN® infrastructure

The LoRaWAN infrastructure can either be private or public.

If you use a public one, you don’t need any further hardware for the connectivity.

If you use a private one, you will need a LoRaWAN® gateway, a fixed devices, that receives the data from the Abeeway Trackers and forward it to Actility’s backend.

    05. Abeeway Trackers

Abeeway trackers are LoRaWAN® devices ensuring asset localization by leveraging multiple geolocation technologies: GPS, Low Power-GPS (LP-GPS), Wi-Fi sniffing, LoRaWAN®, and BLE radios.

Multiple form factors are available to match the wide variety of vertical applications.

Contact Favendo’s sales team, if you want to know more.

    06. Anchor beacons

Every beacon using the iBeacon protocol should be compatible with Favendo’s solution.

Ask the Favendo Team if you want to know which beacons have been tested and approved by Favendo.
